Ribosite® Influenza A N8 kit utilizes a duplex Real-Time PCR to provide a qualitative testing method. The PCR reaction amplifies target genes for both Influenza A N8 and an exogenous control, the Internal Amplification Control (IAC), in a single reaction setting using specific primer pairs. During the PCR reaction, fluorescently labeled probes detect the amplified target gene fragments in real-time, with the probe for Influenza A N8 labeled with FAM and the probe for the exogenous control labeled with HEX. The emitted fluorescence is separately measured by the Real-Time PCR thermal cycler. Each sample is individually analyzed in one reaction vessel, with a Negative Control and Positive Control run alongside to aid in evaluating the Influenza A N8 - specific status of the sample. With this method, results can be obtained in just a few hours after the sample is received.
